Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and is usually associated with summer and the crystal-clear waters of its beaches. However, spring in Mallorca is a time of year that offers a unique charm and is packed with reasons to pack your bags and embark on an exciting adventure.
At ROIG, we want you to see the charm of Mallorca, as it goes far beyond swimming on its beaches and in its coves. That’s why we’re presenting the reasons that will convince you to travel to Mallorca in March and discover what to do on the island at this time of year.

What’s the weather like in Mallorca in March?
March is the month that marks the start of spring in Mallorca, with an average daily temperature of 13 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of 71%. In other words, it’s the perfect time to put your winter coat away again and head out with a light in-between-season jacket.
The likelihood of strong winds in March is low, with an average wind speed of around 11 km/h. This matters in Mallorca because the wind known as the Tramuntana could end up completely ruining your holiday. As for rainfall, March usually sees 5 rainy days across the whole month.
Thanks to Mallorca’s good weather in March, the local markets fill up with fresh seasonal produce, and it becomes much more pleasant to stroll through the streets of the city. What’s more, in March, the water temperature starts to rise and ranges between 14 and 16 degrees. Only for the bravest!

Best things to do in Mallorca in March
Spring is approaching, and you can feel it, because the streets fill up with plans and people are ready to stop hiding away at home and get back to enjoying beach culture. The hours of daylight are starting to lengthen, and temperatures are already beginning to warm up.
What’s more, at this time of year there still aren’t many tourists around, which is very welcome when it comes to organising excursions around Mallorca and choosing the best things to do on the island in March.
Mallorca’s Albufera
Visiting the Albufera in March is a highly recommended plan for nature lovers. This is a perfect time of the year, as the weather is pleasant for walking and the migratory birds are in full activity.
We recommend booking a bird-watching activity, as this is an important habitat for waterfowl, and in March many migratory species stop off at this Natural Park before continuing their journey north.
The Fira del Fang
If you like crafts, you can’t miss the Fira del Fang in Marratxí, held during the first fortnight of March. There you’ll find potters at every turn presenting their latest works. Not only will you be able to admire these handmade treasures, but you’ll also be able to take a piece home in your suitcase as a souvenir.
Arab baths
The Arab baths in Mallorca are one of the most significant historical remnants of the Islamic occupation of the island that still survive today. This space lets you take in fascinating architecture that’s very different from what we’re used to. You’ll also be able to get to know the daily life of that era in depth.
As it’s not high season, you’ll be able to visit the Arab baths in a much more relaxed way, without the typical crowds of peak season.
Cycling in Mallorca
Cycling around Mallorca in March is one of the best ideas you can have for getting to know the island in a relaxed way. The climate at this time of year is pleasant, and the island’s trails offer good conditions for cycling enthusiasts.
Mallorca offers a wide variety of routes for cyclists of all levels. You can explore the coastline, the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana, or take on flatter routes in the island’s interior.
Drach Caves
You’ll rarely get the chance to visit a tourist spot like the Caves of Drach without every corner being packed with tourists. These caves, located in the village of Porto Cristo, are an idyllic spot where you’ll find an underground lake and plenty of stalactites and stalagmites..
The average temperature inside ranges between 17 and 20 degrees, so you can visit these caves at any time of year.
Celebrate the Day of the Balearic Islands
1 March is the day on which Balearic Islands Day is celebrated, and each municipality organises its own activities. This was the date on which the region’s Statute of Autonomy was signed, in 1983.
Some of the activities you can enjoy include open days to visit the Balearic heritage sites, opportunities to sample the islands’ most typical cuisine, concerts, live performances, and more.
Hiking route to Puig de Galileu from Son Massip
This route up to Puig de Galileu from Son Massip is an easy 8-kilometre excursion with a certain amount of elevation gain, ideal for those looking to get started with hiking in Mallorca without major physical demands. It offers stunning views from the summit, where you can see Puig de Massanella and Puig Major in the distance.
The route also passes by two old snow houses dating back to the 17th century. This is where snow used to be stored to be sold in the form of ice blocks. March is one of the best times to enjoy this route, without dying of the heat!
Walk along its beaches
A stroll along the shore of one of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches is a very relaxing experience. And if you’re lucky enough to get a sunny day on the Mediterranean, you’re sure to end up dipping your feet in its irresistible turquoise waters.
All you’ll need is a towel, a good book and the calmness of sitting on the sand to find the peace that comes with the sound of the waves.

Easter in Mallorca
In 2027, Easter will be celebrated in Mallorca from 21 to 28 March. This religious celebration carries great weight on the Balearic island, as it’s deeply rooted in the culture from its very beginnings. During these days, you’ll be able to experience the island differently, combining religious traditions with some cultural elements unique to this part of the Mediterranean.
Here are some of the things you’ll find going on in the streets of Mallorca during Easter Week.
Processions
The most important processions take place in Palma, but you’ll find different religious events you can take part in all over the island. The processions begin on Palm Sunday in churches across the island and continue over the following days, with key dates such as Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Angel Sunday.
Gastronomy
Another of the most important aspects of Mallorca during Easter Week is the cuisine. This time of year wouldn’t be the same without the season’s typical pastries and sweets:
- Panades: These are pies filled with lean meat with sobrassada and peas.
- Coca de verdures: This is a thin pastry with seasonal vegetables and onion.
- Rabiols: These are crescent-shaped pastries filled with apricot jam, chocolate, cream, cottage cheese or angel hair.
- Crespells: These are homemade biscuits made only with Mallorcan products, such as olive oil, lard and oranges from Sóller.
- Chocolate “Mona”: The gift that godparents give to their godchildren, which is basically an Easter egg, which may or may not come in the shape of an egg, and are usually placed on top of the cake known as “La Mona”, which is traditionally eaten on Easter Monday.
Fira del Ram
Another Mallorcan tradition during Easter Week is the Fira del Ram, a fair held in Palma. Thousands of people visit the fair, where you’ll find attractions such as carousels, big wheels, tombolas, and all sorts of stalls and food. It’s one of the liveliest activities in Mallorca for children during this time of year, with fun for everyone!
Visiting the village of Pollença
The village of Pollença is one of those that takes Easter Week most seriously, and here you can witness one of the most moving events of the season. Thousands of people arrive in Pollença to watch the re-enactment of the Descent from the Cross along the 365 steps of the Calvari.
