Route through the Sierra de Tramuntana

What to say about this spectacular mountain range, located in the northwest of the island and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011. Within its 90 km long and 15 km wide stretch -which represents 30% of the insular relief and more of 1,000 km2-, we find 20 beautiful. Among them, it is worth mentioning the picturesque Sóller, surrounded by fruit trees; Calvià, Deià or Pollença. Anyway, we must also mention other less known populated villages, such as Costitx, where the Talayotic town of Son Corró is located; LlubíMaria de la Salut or Sencelles.

Traveling along the roads of the interior of the island, you can discover Ariany, where the sanctuary of the Virgin of Atocha, Montuïri or Petra are located, which also stands out for its unique church. As the final stop of this tour, we find the city of Manacor, famous for being the birthplace of tennis player Rafa Nadal and an important town.

      Palma de Mallorca-Banyalbufar (25 km)

Taking the Ma-10 and Ma-1040 roads from the Mallorcan capital, and in barely three quarters of an hour, you will reach the charming town of Banyalbufar. You and your loved ones can enjoy the views from your rental car in Mallorca too, as they are simply jaw-dropping. The route is quite winding, but we assure you it’s worth it.

Once in Banyalbufar, do not miss the tower of Ses Ànimes, which was built in the seventeenth century to watch the coast before the threat of pirates. Nor should you miss some villages nearby, such as Estellencs, very popular among hiking and cycling enthisiasts. This place is also famous for hosting some of the best coves in Mallorca. Do not miss it!

Palma de Mallorca-Cape Formentor (65 km)

This bus tour, most of which runs along the wide Ma-13, allows you to explore the island from end to end, from the southwest to the northeast, and get to know the northernmost point of Mallorca. There you will find a lighthouse that rises about 200 m above sea level, breathtaking cliffs bathed by crystal clear waters and coves such as Engosalba, Figuera or Murta. In its final section, the road winds, but the views you will enjoy from the viewpoint of Sa Creueta well deserve this small effort.

            Wine tour in Mallorca

If you want to take advantage of your holidays in Majorca to do enological tourism, take advantage of your bus rental to discover the secrets of the Binissalem Denomination of Origin wine. To do this, you can move to the area of Raiguer, famous for its vineyards, and towns such as Benissalem, Consell or Santa Maria del Camí, where some wineries open their doors to the public.

Palma de Mallorca-Coves del Drach, in Portocristo (58 km)

If there is an iconic place in the east of Mallorca, those are the Caves of Drach. Located in Portocristo, these wonderful grottos unfold along 1.2 km in length, studded with stalactites and stalagmites. In addition, its insides are home to Lake Martel, considered one of the most extensive underground lakes on the planet.

              Palma de Mallorca-Valldemossa (20 km)

In just over 25 minutes, your rental car in Mallorca or bus tour will take you to the town of Valldemossa, one of the must-see spots on the island. Such important personalities as Rubén Darío, Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos or Frédéric Chopin himself have stayed there. There are many reasons why: just take a look at the splendid Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa, which accommodates a church and an old pharmacy.

              Palma de Mallorca-Alcúdia (55 km)

We suggest a tour from the south to the north of the island, which will have its highlighting point at the beautiful beaches of the Alcúdia. Through the Ma-13 road and in 45 minutes, your tour or rental car in Mallorca will leave you in a really special place. Without going any further, did you know that Alcúdia accommodates the smallest Roman amphitheater in Spain? Also, going towards the port, you can admire the vestiges of the ancient Roman city of Pollentia. All this without forgetting the seductive walls that protect the historic center of Alcúdia or the leisure opportunities offered by the neighboring town of Port d’Alcúdia.

Palma de Mallorca-Sa Calobra (61.5 km)

Taking the Ma-11 and the Ma-10 and in just an hour and a half, you will reach Sa Calobra, a cove that was formed by the pebbles that the Pareis torrent drags, which flows into this place. The final section is a narrow mountain road, 14 km long and full of sharp curves. In any case, this route allows you to contemplate unparalleled views over the Serra de Tramuntana.

                  Palma de Mallorca-Capdepera (77 km)

Another bus tour in Mallorca that will allow you to travel the island from one end to the other. Although it is the longest route on this list, the Ma-15 will take you there in just over an hour. The main attraction of this town is the castle of Capdepera, a walled fortress whose construction began in 1300, and which was built on the remains of a Muslim village. As a fun fact, you should note that the surrender of the neighboring island of Menorca was carried out from here.

                    Palma de Mallorca-Andratx (28 km)

We closed this range of suggestions with a tour that, through a 25 km route along the Ma-1 road, allows you to enjoy one of the most touristic centers of Mallorca. From there, you can go down to Port d’Andratx, one of the most exclusive touristic areas on the island.

Are there not many of you and therefore do not need a rental bus? No problem, because with ROIG you also have plenty of rental cars in Mallorca, as well as a taxi service in Mallorca, ideal to make your transfers to or from Palma airport.
