FERIAS GASTRONÓMICAS DE MALLORCA EN OCTUBRE
Ya está aquí octubre, y con él el temido otoño. Pero en Mallorca, octubre es uno de los mejores meses del año. El periodo de temporada alta termina, y los precios son más baratos en temporada baja.
MOROS Y CRISTIANOS (POLLENÇA)
The festivity of Mare de Déu dels Àngels, the patron saint of Pollença is held on 2nd August, coinciding with the commemoration of the victory of the Christians over the Ottoman pirates who, under the orders of Dragut, attacked the town in 1550.
ES VERMAR (BINISSALEM)
Binissalem is a land of wines and it is therefore natural that it should hold its own grape harvest festival, Es Vermar. The celebrations take place in September, coinciding with the days when the grapes are harvested and then turned into wine.
Sant Antoni (Artà)
The festivities get underway at 8 a.m. on 16th January, with a delicious breakfast consisting of hot drinking chocolate and ensaimada pastries in the Casa de l’Obrer or the “workers home”. Later on, musicians, who have already enjoyed generous servings of the muscat and the mesclat liqueur, parade around the streets, accompanied by a pair of demons, who symbolise human evil and temptations.
