{"id":8333,"date":"2022-02-03T13:14:56","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T12:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roig.it-satzinger.de\/blog\/moros-y-cristianos-pollenca\/"},"modified":"2022-02-03T13:14:56","modified_gmt":"2022-02-03T12:14:56","slug":"moros-y-cristianos-pollenca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roig.com\/en\/moros-y-cristianos-pollenca\/","title":{"rendered":"MOROS Y CRISTIANOS (POLLEN\u00c7A)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The festivity of&nbsp;<strong>Mare de D\u00e9u dels \u00c0ngels<\/strong>, the patron saint of&nbsp;<strong>Pollen\u00e7a<\/strong>&nbsp;is held on 2nd August, coinciding with the commemoration of the victory of the Christians over the Ottoman pirates who, under the orders of Dragut, attacked the town in 1550.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebrations get underway at five o\u2019clock in the morning, following an open-air dance, when the music band plays an aubade. The festivities continue with a mass in honour of the Virgin Mare de D\u00e9u dels \u00c0ngels at 11 a.m. followed by the dance of the Cossiers, performed by a traditional Mallorcan dance group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, the entertainment moves to Plaza de l\u2019Almoina, and the re-enactment of the encounter between Joan Mas, the Christian leader, and Dragut with his second-in-command, leader of the Ottoman troops.
